So many times we are so busy Serving the Children of the World, we forget to stop and celebrate the successes we achieve. Below are a few examples of the impact the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha family is having on lives and communities throughout our District. Please check back often as we continue tell our shared stories of success, hope and triumph, and demonstrate what is possible when we join together for a common goal.

Let's Get Seuss-ical!
The Kiwanis Club of Santa Monica initiated a new reading program at their local library and the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation was only too happy to come along for the ride. The goal of the club's Super Seuss-A-Bration was to foster an interest in reading with the children of Santa Monica during "Read Across America." As a result of this project, more 100 books and 200 bookmarks were distributed to children in need, and over 300 families participated in the Seuss-A-Bration celebration at the city of Santa Monica's main library.

The Kiwanis Club of Santa Monica's Seuss-A-Bration consisted of several showings of short cartoon films of Dr. Seuss' books, celebrity readings of Dr. Seuss books, face, painting, a magic show, and presentation of certificates and prizes for contests taking place throughout the day. There was even a free photo-opportunity with The Cat in the Hat, played by Janie Harding, president of the Kiwanis Club of Santa Monica.

The club partnered with local elementary school teachers and the youth services librarian to host this unique, family-friendly event. The Suess-A-Bration was a huge success and the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation is grateful to the Kiwanis Club of Santa Monica and everyone involved for allowing us to partner with them to bring this event to the children and families in their community.

Baby on Board!
The Kiwanis Club of Canoga Park's Young Children Priority One (YCPO) Committee took it upon themselves to ensure young, expectant mothers in their community had access to a child safety seat by the time their children were born. The club's YPCO Committee, led by Sandy Williams, submitted a PTP grant application which the Foundation Grants Committee unanimously voted to support the project.

The funds grant allowed the Kiwanis Club to provide 24 child safety seats to expectant mothers and to a local hospital. "The car seat project for Canoga YCPO was chosen because there is a need in the community to help the needy mothers who cannot afford or who were unaware of the importance of car seats," states project Chair Sandy Williams.

This project is a wonderful example of a local club and the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation partnering together to Serve the Children of the World. For more ideas on club, division or PTP projects, feel free to contact us at 877-597-1770, ext. 116 or Email us.
