Annual Award Programs

Purpose: "To provide an avenue for Kiwanis clubs to recognize individuals in their community."

The award guidelines for all these awards are available in the comprehensive Awards Manual.

The Nathan Hale Award

This award is presented at the district convention to an individual that has been nominated by a club. The winner will have demonstrated an outstanding act of courage during the year, while not having done it during normal performance of their profession or occupation (law enforcement, public safety, etc.). Former recipients are listed for perpetual recognition.

The Family of the Year Award

Awarded annually to the Kiwanis family that best exemplifies strong family values. Nominations come from Kiwanis clubs. Former recipients are listed for perpetual recognition.

The Bert Shoemaker Award

This award is presented at the district convention to an individual that exemplifies the spirit of Kiwanis. Nominations are sought from local clubs. Former recipients are listed for perpetual recognition.


- Bert Shoemaker Award Guidelines

Ed Solomon Award

Awarded to a public servant for exceptional service to their community. The award is in memory of Ed Solomon, a past mayor of the city of Napa in Division 8. The winner must be a member of a community service organization, but it is not limited to Kiwanis. Former recipients are listed for perpetual recognition.
